The Qair Story: 34 Years of Family Aircon Work in Singapore (1992-2026)

Some businesses start with a 30-page slide deck. Ours started with a toolbox, a beat-up van, and a young father who believed honest work would carry further than clever marketing. Here's the story of how Qair came to be — written so you know who you're hiring.

1992 — One technician, one toolbox

Our founder started servicing aircons across Singapore in 1992. No business plan, no logo, no website — just word-of-mouth referrals from satisfied customers. For nearly three decades he serviced HDB flats, condos, and small businesses across Yishun, Sembawang, Bishan, Hougang and beyond, one unit at a time.

The rule he built the business on was simple: charge fair, do honest work, stand behind it. If a customer wasn't happy, come back. If a repair couldn't fix the problem, only charge transport. If they didn't need a chemical wash, don't sell them one.

Early 2010s — Son joins the trade

In the early 2010s, the founder's son joined him on the job. For ten years he trained the way every traditional Singapore trade is passed down — hands-on, alongside his father, on real homes and real units. Learning the things that don't get printed in textbooks: how to listen for a failing compressor, when a chemical wash is enough vs an overhaul, how to talk to an anxious customer when the aircon dies in 33°C heat.

2021 — The handover. The name. The next chapter

In 2021, the son formally took over. He incorporated the business as QAIR ENGINEERING PTE LTD (UEN 202106861N), introduced the Qair name, and got the HDB-licensed installer certification (SSA2300033). The values stayed exactly the same. The only thing that changed: how customers reach us — book online, message us on WhatsApp, no more phone tag.

2026 — Where we are today

Why we don't show our faces

You'll notice our website shows real job photos but not staff portraits. That's deliberate — a quiet Singaporean trade-business preference. The work and the legacy speak for themselves. The technician who comes to your home will introduce himself in person, and you'll meet him properly then.
